A Historic Gem in Pound Ridge

Renovation of the landmark 1765 Byron Stratton House in Pound Ridge, New York

Originally built and located in Hartford, CT, the Byron Stratton House was moved to its current location in Pound Ridge in 1934. Noted local architect Hiram Halle added a new wing and a new front door, while several subsequent renovations imbued the house with a mix of historic preservation and new elements.

In 2012, we took on this house and focused on improving areas that could be ‘unrenovated’ to better align with the historic parts of the home, including the kitchen, bar, sitting rooms and primary bedroom suite. We also added a mudroom and expanded the covered porch with an indoor-outdoor fireplace and sitting areas, sparking a new chapter in the home’s nearly 260-year history.
