A Dynamic Family Compound in New England

Transformation of c. 1900 farm house into a lively family estate through renovation, additions, a new pool area, and landscaping

This ambitious project, completed in 2014, required historic restoration, new construction, site planning and a host of specialists. We tackled structural challenges and focused on every detail from creating traditional dry stack stone walls to a state of the art theater and sound system.

Our driving design considerations were scale and seamlessly integrating the new addition with the historic existing house. We took advantage of every square foot of available space, converting a third floor attic into a teen bedroom and hangout area, along with creating a full basement with a home theater, pub, and gym with a sauna..

Set against a historic barn and extensive gardens, the outbuildings include a new pool and pool house with an outdoor kitchen and pizza oven, a three-bay carriage house with two home offices above, and a greenhouse.
