A full house interior renovation of this 1790’s Pound Ridge landmark brings new life without compromising historic character

A New Old House

The Solomon Lockwood Tavern, circa 1790, has had many lives. It has been a family homestead, an inn, a tavern, a general store, and even a tea house.  The current owners were the perfect ones to envision its next life as a fun, functional, light-filled family home that would both celebrate its history and show off their modern art collection.

The historic shell was the foundation of the project, later interior changes were stripped away while the original details were carefully preserved. At the same time, everything beneath the surface was upgraded, from mechanicals and foundation to finishes and amenities.
